Ever thought about getting into boating, but not sure where to start? Or, are you an experienced boater who just wants to feel more comfortable behind the wheel? If so, hands-on, on-water training is something you may want to seriously consider.
On-water boat training is a one-on-one or small group training experience where a knowledgeable captain or instructor takes you out on the water, giving you hands-on experience that helps you gain confidence and comfort behind the wheel. During the process, boaters get “wheel time” and can learn almost any aspect of boating, from pulling out of the slip to getting up on plane.
In our newest educational video, Ray Fernandez gives you a direct look and feel for boat training, while instructing a new boater how to pull a boat out of the slip.
If on-water training is of interest, we have created the Build a Boater program in partnership with the Boat US Foundation. Our program helps you learn to boat, providing a fun hands-on, on-water boat handling experience! We recommend most boaters start with Module 1, the fundamentals of boating, where you’ll gain hands-on experience in a Bridge Marina boat with our trained instructors! Our instructors take you out on Lake Hopatcong or Sandy Hook Bay, where you’ll learn the essentials of boating, safety protocols, rules of the water, and more! We also offer other on-water training courses through our Build a Boater program, covering everything from close quarter maneuvering to open water skills. You can find out more here.
