Bridge Marina awarded its 2016 “Bridge Marina Scholarship” to Heather LaRose of Jefferson Township at its Labor Day event earlier this month. For the past ten years, Bridge Marina has awarded a monetary scholarship to one of its staff members in recognition of his or her outstanding performance, attitude and commitment to customer service. The award winner selection is based partially on feedback from Bridge Marina dock slip and boating club members as well.
A junior at Jefferson Township High School, LaRose has worked at Bridge Marina as a dockhand for the past two summers. She is a varsity cheerleader who enjoys art and music.
About choosing LaRose for the award, Ray Fernandez, owner of Bridge Marina, said “Choosing just one of our team members to receive this award is always a challenge. However, Heather’s positive attitude, friendly demeanor, and willingness to always go the extra mile certainly stood out, for both me and our clients. I’m very proud and pleased to award Heather with this year’s scholarship.”
About the Bridge Marina Scholarship award program, which is now in its tenth year, Fernandez said, “It is a sincere pleasure to give out this award each year, and I always enjoy hearing our members’ input regarding which staff membership they believe should win the award. Recognizing our team for their contributions and hard work is extremely important to us, and our scholarship program allows us to do just that, while also helping our staff members further their education and interests.”
Past recipients of the Bridge Marina scholarship include Jefferson Township residents William Caruso, Daniel Mickel, Dennis McCormick, Tom Jauch, and Scott King, as well as Sparta Township resident Andy Richards.
