Bridge Marina Awards 2013 Scholarship on Lake Hopatcong

September 9, 2013

Bridge Marina awarded its 2013 “Bridge Marina Scholarship” to William Caruso of Lake Hopatcong at its Labor Day event on
Sunday, September 1, 2013. Each year, Bridge Marina awards a scholarship to one of its staff members in recognition
of his or her outstanding performance, attitude and commitment to customer service. The award winner selection is based partially on feedback from Bridge Marina dock slip and boating club members as well.

Caruso,19, has worked at Bridge Marina for the past two years. Caruso is an avid fisherman and boater who currently {#/pub/images/BridgeMarinaScholarship2013.jpg}attends County College of Morris, where he is studying business administration. About winning the award, Caruso said, “I was quite surprised – it was nice to be considered.  I’d like to thank Bridge Marina and my fellow staff members who work with me. I’m looking forward to another great season next year.” Caruso also recognized Bridge Marina members Wayne and Darlene Decker of Lafayette, N.J. for the generosity; Mr. and Mrs. Decker matched the marina’s scholarship amount,
thus doubling this year’s monetary award.

About choosing Caruso for the award, Ray Fernandez, owner of Bridge Marina, said “Choosing just one of our staff members to receive this award is always difficult. However, Will’s achievements this year rose above the rest. This season, he has taken on additional responsibilities at Bridge Marina and has risen to the occasion. He is an outstanding contribution to our staff and is keenly focused on exceptional customer service.”

About the Bridge Marina Scholarship award program, which is now in its sixth year, Fernandez said, “This award not only provides us an opportunity to help our staff with furthering their education, but also allows us to recognize our
staff for their hard work and efforts. It’s a pleasure to give this award each year, and I think our members are equally pleased to see our staff members recognized for their achievements. ”

Past recipients of the Bridge Marina scholarship include Jefferson Township residents Daniel Mickel, Denny McCormick, Tom Jauch, and Scott King, as well as Sparta Township resident Andy Richards.
